Websites for Mobile Devices
By 2015 internet usage on mobile devices will surpass desktop computers.
In a 2010 report, Morgan Stanley predicted that mobile internet usage will surpass desktop computer access. When you look at statistics, it looks like their prediction will come true at some point. Maybe not 2015, but shortly after. The reason is simple – during business hours, desktop usage still dominates, but when people aren’t at work they spend more time on their smart phones and tablets.
If your business relies on business to consumer interactions, you must make sure your website is mobile or tablet compatible. It can be the difference between making a sale or not. Imagine if someone is on their phone and searching for ’emergency air conditioning repair.’ A website might come up number one in the search, but if it’s not mobile compatible, it might be too hard to use. The potential customer just hits the ‘back’ button and taps on the next site. Assuming it is mobile compatible and the phone number is clear at the top of the screen (so they can just tap to dial) that second site will gain their business.
It’s not necessary to build an entirely separate site. Gordon Multimedia can convert an existing site to work on mobile devices, or build your new site so it will generate more business with mobile browsers.
